Live Earth

I'm upping the ante, folks. I just heard another story on NPR about how Live Earth was literally a waste of energy and that it was counterproductive to hold a show promoting conservation with such indulgence.

Liberal radio is attacking the event. THEY ARE ATTACKING THEIR OWN PEOPLE! Live Earth may have been a bit of an ironic way to celebrate change in our outlook on energy consumption as concerts are a bit exhausting when it comes to power, but we all knew this before it happened, we all knew that concerts and performances are serious energy-suckers and that also, they are fun and entertaining and that, it is not productive to continue harping on the concept and start making a bigger deal out of the message they were attempting to send.

Madonna's carbon footprint is dinosaur sized and may even be fossilized on our earth, but now EVERYONE knows, now she has to change or face some serious People and public lambasting.

I'm tired of hearing people, anyone, criticize the motives of this event because it doesn't change anything. It's over, the concert happened, some people in the UK were quoted saying they didn't even know what the concert was about and they paid $100 to go, and they went and now they know. THEY KNOW! The knowledge they were trying to spread was spread, like warm jam on hot toast, it was spread. The information makes sense and it's important. Why is the dialog (like most of Ann Coulter's) being lowered to a standard that is insulting the cause itself? Elizabeth Edwards called out Ann Coulter because she lowers the standard of dialog by an enormous degree making it more difficult for potential candidates and individuals to have real conversations about real issues. Why are we allowing the media to do the same thing to an issue that we ALL agree on? Republicans probably can't get enough of this battle. Al Gore is trying to raise awareness and his colleagues are lowering the standards. It makes you wonder how you could possibly put on any event promoting anything that uses absolutely NO energy.

Anyway, as a person sworn to lower her carbon foot-print, I am frustrated an appalled that we aren't discussing the messages that were sent instead of the method of sending. I am anteing, along with Elizabeth Edwards, that we raise the standards and argue about the real issue behind this concert series among others, instead of taking time to deflect attacks by stupid people like Ann Coulter.
